Land Acknowledgement
Micah’s Monkeys respectfully acknowledges that we are located on Treaty 7 territory—the traditional lands of the Blackfoot Nations, Tsuut’ina First Nation, Stoney Nakoda, and Métis peoples—whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to enrich our community. We are grateful to live, learn, and play on this land, specifically in McKenzie Towne, Calgary, where the Blackfoot once camped and wintered. We thank the Elders and Knowledge Keepers who generously share their stories and wisdom. With deep respect, I strive to include Indigenous perspectives in our learning environment by sharing teachings, history, and best practices. I aim to foster empathy, intercultural understanding, and mutual respect, while continuing to reflect on my own growth and training as an educator. Together, we will care for the land and each other, following the example of those who came before us.
